Bishop Bennett B. Gamble, Sr., is a dedicated pastor, respected leader, and faithful servant of God whose life reflects a commitment to ministry, education, and community service. A proud native of Washington, D.C., he is the eldest of five children born to the late Benny Joe and Bernetha Gamble. He graduated with honors from Dunbar High School and pursued higher education at the University of the District of Columbia and Howard University. In preparation for his calling to ministry, he earned a degree in theology from Apostolic Christian College.

Ordained as an Elder in August 2001, Bishop Gamble was installed as Pastor of New Beginning Way of the Cross Church of Christ in October of that same year. Guided by unwavering faith and a God-given vision, he has led the congregation through seasons of spiritual growth, financial progress, and expanded outreach. Within his first three years as pastor, the church’s mortgage was fully paid—a milestone reflecting faithful stewardship and the congregation’s shared commitment to the vision.

 

Under his leadership, the Memorial Scholarship Ministry was established and has awarded more than $35,000 to graduating high school seniors. His ministry has also included the baptism of more than 250 believers and outreach through the adoption of homeless shelters and assisted living facilities. These efforts reflect his commitment to extending the love of Christ beyond the sanctuary and meeting the needs of the community. In January 2025, the church acquired a building in Suitland, Maryland, opening a new chapter of ministry and service in the region.

 

Bishop Gamble’s leadership extends to The Way of the Cross Church of Christ, International. Elected General Secretary in June 2016, he continues to serve faithfully in that capacity. In October 2025, he was elevated to the Executive Board of Bishops, where he helps guide the international body with wisdom, humility, and integrity.

Alongside his ministry, Bishop Gamble completed 38 years of distinguished service with the U.S. Department of Labor. He retired on December 31, 2025, as a Public Affairs Specialist in its Public Affairs Office.

 

Among his most cherished blessings is his role as a father. He is the proud and devoted parent of Minister Bennett Jr. (“BJ”), Trustee Brandon, and Sister Brandi Gamble. As he celebrates 25 years of pastoral leadership, Bishop Gamble remains steadfast in his calling to preach the Gospel, nurture God’s people, and serve with faith, compassion, and purpose.
