Bishop Bennett B. Gamble, Sr., a proud native of Washington, D.C., is the eldest of five children born to the late Benny Joe and Bernetha Gamble. From an early age, he demonstrated a spirit of excellence, graduating with honors from Dunbar High School and pursuing higher education at the University of the District of Columbia and Howard University. Answering the call to ministry, he earned a degree in theology from Apostolic Christian College, preparing for a life devoted to Kingdom service.
In August 2001, Bishop Gamble was ordained as an Elder, and in October of that same year, he was installed as Pastor of New Beginning Way of the Cross Church of Christ. With unwavering faith and a divinely inspired vision, he led the congregation into a season of spiritual and financial growth. Within his first three years of pastoral leadership, the church mortgage was fully retired—a testament to faithful stewardship and collective obedience.
Under his leadership, the Memorial Scholarship Ministry was established and has awarded more than $35,000 to graduating high school seniors. His pastoral ministry has also included the baptism of more than 250 believers and the adoption of homeless shelters and assisted living facilities, extending Christ's love beyond the sanctuary walls. In January 2025, the ministry reached another milestone with the acquisition of a church building in Suitland, Maryland, further expanding its impact in the region.
In June 2016, Bishop Gamble was elected General Secretary of the Way of the Cross Church of Christ, International, a position he faithfully continues to hold. By divine appointment, he was elevated in October 2025 to serve on the Executive Board of Bishops, helping to guide the international body with wisdom, humility, and integrity.
After 38 years of distinguished service, Bishop Gamble retired on December 31, 2025, from the U.S. Department of Labor Public Affairs Office as a Public Affairs Specialist.
Above every title and accomplishment, Bishop Gamble treasures his role as a father. He is the proud and devoted parent of Minister Bennett Jr. ("BJ"), Trustee Brandon, and Sister Brandi Gamble.
